MAINE COON RESCUE
ANSWERS ANOTHER SOS! FOR TIGER

Tiger was a previous feature kitty when Maine Coon Rescue took him into foster care when his first adopted family had to relinquish him.  A new home was found for him in 2 1/2 years ago by Maine Coon Rescue where he was a happy boy until it was discovered that the child of the home had allergies and it turned out to be Tiger.  So Maine Coon Rescue rescued Tiger once more in January 2008 where he stayed in foster care for one week before going to a new home, hopefully this time his forever home.  Read the complete story of Tiger on the 2001 Birth/Adoptions page.

Tiger was born 5-15-2001 to CH Colocoons' Snow Wolf of Rose Petals and CH Rose Petals Anasazi Sunface (aka Annie).  He was adopted by a family in Los Fresnos, TX.  Tiger did very well in this home and was a very happy cat.  During 2004 the family moved to Los Angeles, CA to make their home.  This spring I received a call from the owner that circumstances had changed, the landlord had discovered Tiger and since no pets were allowed he was given only 3 days to get Tiger out of the apartment.

Of course I panicked and called some relatives in the area but due to health reasons, no one was able to care for Tiger.  I then remembered one of my kitty owners had mentioned she had done some volunteer work for the Maine Coon Rescue so I went to the trusty Internet and typed in Maine Coon Rescue and was led to www.mainecoonrescue.com which proved to be a life saver.

Before the deadline of Tiger needing to be removed, the Maine Coon Rescue came to Tiger's rescue to keep him from being euthanized.  The owner surrendered Tiger to the foster mom where he was loved and cared for until a new loving home could be found for him.  He was immediately taken to the vet for blood tests where all tests showed he was negative for any feline diseases.  He received current vaccinations since no records could be found when he received them last.  He also received a microchip for future identification and was treated with Frontline Top Spot for prevention of fleas as was done with all the rescue kitties.  It only took him a couple of days to become accustomed to his new surroundings so that he didn't have to be kept confined.  The Maine Coon Rescue worked diligently to find Tiger a good home. 

A great home has now been found for Tiger and on 4th of July weekend he moved to his new home where it has been reported that Tiger is doing very well and adapted to his new home very quickly.  He loves to interact with the children that come to visit on occasion as he had been used to being loved by a young girl in his previous home.  Tiger is quite a lap kitty and his new owners are very pleased with Tiger.

IN 2001 WYLIE WAS ADOPTED AS A KITTEN AND BECAME OUR FIRST LITTLE TRAVELIN MAN.

THEN SEVERAL MONTHS LATER (9-13-2002) WYLIE'S HUMAN MOM AND DAD DECIDED WYLIE NEEDED A PAL SO ADOPTED RADAR.

WYLIE AND RADAR ARE ALWAYS EXCELLENTLY GROOMED AND ARE VERY HAPPY BOYS AND LOVE TRAVELING IN THE MOTOR HOME.  AS SOON AS THEY HEAR THE MOTOR START UP, THEY KNOW THEY'RE GETTING TO GO ON A TRIP.  WHEN CARRIED TO THE MOTOR HOME THEY TAKE THEIR RESPECTIVE PLACES ON THE CAT TREE LOCATED BETWEEN THE 2 CAPTAINS CHAIRS OF THE MOTOR HOME AND REMAIN THERE UNTIL PARKED FOR THE NIGHT AND THE SLIDES OF THE MOTOR HOME HAVE BEEN MOVED INTO PLACE.  THEN THE BOYS JUMP DOWN AND CONTINUE LIVING THEIR LIVES IN THEIR HOME ON WHEELS.

MEMORIAL TRIBUTE
LORAN JENSEN
1942 - 2011
 

*This tribute to a very special person and friend is from the heart of Larry and Karen Rose of Rose Petals Maine Coons. We feel so privileged to have met Loran and wife, Susan, the love of his life of 30 years. They were a very special couple and we feel so blessed to have been considered their friends. We want to give our own tribute to Loran with these writings.
*We first met Loran who picked out Wylie from the other kittens of the litter because his wife, Susan, had to work at her job as Flight Attendant for Northwest Airlines. There was a special bond between Loran and Wylie from the very beginning. Wylie was most definitely Loran's cat and later that year Loran and Susan came back to Rose Petals on their way back to their home in Florida from their cabin in Minnesota and picked up Radar who would be Susan's cat and Wylie's feline buddy.
*Loran was so good about calling occasionally to give us "Wylie and Radar Updates" and let us know about what was going on in their lives. We will certainly miss those calls from Loran. On one of those calls Loran told us about something that had happened to Wylie. He said that Wylie was upstairs in the loft of their home and jumped from the desk onto the corner post of the stairs, slid off and felt down to the first floor. Loran couldn't get to his boy fast enough. He was so upset and afraid he'd lost his beloved Wylie. When he got to Wylie, he found that Wylie was pretty shook up and required a quick trip to the vet. There were no broken bones but the vet gave Wylie a shot that was supposed to help with the stiffness he'd experience from the fall. For several days Wylie was unable to jump up on the bed to sleep like he was used to doing. So, loving Wylie the way Loran did, he slept on the floor with Wylie each night until Wylie was finally able to get back up on the bed. Just how many men would do that for their beloved pet. That is the kind of loving gentle soul that was Loran through and through.

Loran stated many times how he just didn't know how he was going to handle it when the time came for Wylie to go to the Rainbow Bridge. Little did he know that it would be Wylie who would be having to deal with the loss of his beloved human dad, Loran.
*Susan writes, "You know how much Loran loved the boys and especially Wylie. You remember he picked Wylie out by himself-- I wasn't even there ---so there was always a special bond. Both boys are doing o.k. but are both a little more needy than before (especially Wylie) and they don't like it when I leave."
*Susan sent pictures taken of the boys since Loran's passing. They are below:

*Wylie is pictured with Loran's picture in the background. You can certainly sense the sadness he feels. Both Wylie and Radar lying in their cat tree together also shows sadness. It is so heart breaking to know of the grief felt by "The Boys" as Loran and Susan called them. And the broken heart of Susan is shared in the common bond of missing their beloved Loran.
*I'm sure "The Boys" are wondering if they will ever get to go RVing again, something they truly enjoyed.    The four of them saw the USA together.    After all, Wiley & Radar were "The Travelin' Men."

*Larry and I are so glad that we had the chance to get to know Loran and Susan. They were such a special loving couple that their love and close relationship seemed to glow from them. They were a dynamic couple and we know it is a tremendous loss for Susan.

*We were so thankful that they cared enough to keep us "in the loop" of keeping up with "The Boys" these past eleven years. They were wonderful hosts when we made a trip to Florida two different times. We appreciate the times they took out from their traveling schedule to stop when going through our small city of Nevada, MO so we could see the boys and have such a nice visit with them. We'll always treasure our memories of the Foursome and hope that our friendship will continue with Susan.

*Loran was a wonderful, loving, caring person and will be sadly missed by numerous friends and family members. We each share those very special individual memories of him. And the 30 years of memories Susan has of her time with Loran will help get her through this very difficult time in her life. Loran will always live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
